Cutting films & application tapes

In the cutting films & application tapes category, you will find all materials in the field of signing: from various types of cutting films and reflective materials to all kinds of application tapes. Nautasign has cutting films and application tapes from brands such as Orafol, 3M, RTape and TransferRite.

Type and types of cutting films

Self-adhesive cutting film, sticker film or vinyl film is specially designed for texts on facades and windows. In addition, the film is ideal for e.g. billboards and signage. All the different types of vinyl film are explained below.

Cast

A cast cut film is a film that is deformable and therefore extremely suitable for car wrapping and outdoor advertising, among other things. The wrap film is durable and equipped with a permanent but easily removable adhesive layer.

Polymer

Polymer cutting film is suitable for medium-term applications. This adhesive film vinyl lends itself perfectly to cladding facade panels, for applications in shop fitting and for pasting slightly sloping surfaces.

Monomer

Monomer film is very suitable for indoor use, but can also be used outdoors. In any case, the starting point is temporary use on flat surfaces, e.g. on a panel, a window or a door.

Translucent

Translucent vinyl film is used for backlit applications such as light boxes and illuminated advertising banners. These film stickers are highly visible both in daylight and at night.

Etched Glass

Etched glass film is a creative and durable way of creating privacy for rooms with transparent partitions, for example in an office or in a shop. Another advantage is light transmission. These films filter sunlight instead of shutting it out, preserving the effect of daylight.

In addition to the above cutting films, there are also special vinyl films such as: glow-in-the-dark film, mirror film, reflective film and fluorescent cutting film

Application tape

Application tapes are needed for transferring cutting films or print films. The tape is ideal when you have several individual parts in a sticker and want to keep them all in the same place when transferring.

What types of application tape are there?

There are different types of applicator tape and sometimes it can therefore be difficult to determine which tape is best for you. For everyday use, a thicker premium paper applicator tape can be used in many cases.

What is the difference between paper or transparent application tape?

A paper application tape consists of a paper coating with a layer of adhesive. Paper application tape is somewhat translucent, but not transparent. It is generally softer and more flexible than transparent tape. When using a wet application method, paper application tape is recommended because of its porous structure, which allows water or application fluid to easily escape and be wiped away.

Transparent tapes are made of plastic instead of paper. The transparent plastic construction provides the transparency that some sign makers need.

These tapes allow very precise application of multiple colours on top of each other. Wet sticking with transparent application tape is more difficult than with a paper application tape because moisture cannot easily escape due to the tape's dense structure.
