Good news for all users of the 3M 2080 series! Since September 2023, 3M has updated this series with an improved adhesive layer. This improvement is designed to make installation smoother and maintain the quality standards of 3M products, with added ease of use.
What does this mean for you? Firstly, the new adhesive layer prevents streaking, making your end result look even tighter. Also, the film is now easier to install, especially in warmer weather, making the installation process smoother.
But what does this mean in practice? The new adhesive has a lower initial adhesion, which means that when removing the backing, the film is slightly firmer and feels less sticky. Don't worry, this is just meant to improve the fitting experience. Another important point is that it now takes slightly longer for the adhesive to fully spread across the substrate. This gives you more time to reposition the film during installation without worrying about annoying glue streaks. After 72 hours, the film with the new adhesive will have the same adhesion as before.
Some tips for a successful installation: Pay attention to the temperature (between 16 and 32 °C, ideally between 18 °C and 23 °C) and ensure sufficient pressure during application to ensure good adhesion.
Using the right squeegee with a thin protective buffer and setting the squeegee angle correctly (between 30º and 40º), will also contribute to a better end result. These tips will ensure a smooth and professional installation of your 3M 2080 wrap.
